Liability Insurance

The importance of having adequate liability insurance should not be underestimated.

Without the protection of liability insurance, your organisation could face legal costs and possible compensation costs.

Public Liability
Although insurance public liability is not compulsory, we consider that no organisation should be without it. The primary reason for having this insurance is to cover your legal liability to the public for any bodily injury sustained by a third party or damage to their property which arises out of the negligence of your organisation, including the work of volunteers.

Products Liability
This cover is in respect to bodily injury and damage to property to other people, arising from the sale of products which could include your stock of merchandise, food and drink sold to the public or products that you manufacture.

Property Owner's Liability
This cover is in respect to bodily injury and damage to property to other people, arising out of your ownership of property, which would include buildings and land. This would include injury caused by falling tiles, badly maintained driveways or steps and dangerous structures.

Employers' Liability
This insurance is a statutory legal requirement. Employees are not just people who receive a wage from you. The definition of an employee includes any person;

  • Under a contract of service or apprenticeship with you
  • Who is hired to, supplied to or borrowed by you
  • Engaged under a work experience or similar scheme
  • Helping as a volunteer
  • Who is one of your trustees

All these categories of persons need to be under your direct control and supervision and working for you in connection with your activities.

With our specialist knowledge of liability insurance we are able to give you advice and quotations on the policies best suited for your needs whether you require a short period policy or annual liability cover for all your activities.

We deal with underwriters who provide cover for your work anywhere in the UK and are able to extend the cover to include your work overseas, including short term projects.

The liability policy will have options to include cover for:

  • Public Liability
  • Products Liability
  • Property Owner's Liability
  • Employers' Liability. It should be noted that employers' liability can not be purchased on its own

We recommend that an annual review is conducted of your insurances, to make sure that the cover is adequate, complete and fully protecting your activities. By doing this, you will also have the opportunity to check on the premium level that you are paying.
